This is the easiest fried rice recipe ever! I usually like adding a little Lankan-style chilli paste into the fried rice as well, but I didn’t have any so I haven’t included it in the recipe here. If you do feel like adding in a chilli paste you like, then just add about a tablespoon of it to the vegetable mix before mixing in the rice, and adjust the salt accordingly.
Ingredients
- 3 cups basmati rice
- 4 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp each minced ginger and garlic
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup chopped spring onions
- 1 vegetable bouillon cube
Cook the rice and set aside to cool.
In a large pan, heat the sesame oil. Add the ginger and garlic and fry until fragrant. Add the vegetables and cook for about a minute. Crush the bouillon cube into the mix. Once the cube has dissolved into the vegetable mix, taste for salt (it should be a little salty since plain rice will be mixed into it) and add the rice. Turn off the heat and mix the rice and vegetables together well.
